After releasing three albums as an independent artist, West's career shot off in 2002 when he signed with Universal South Records. His first major label album saw him nominated for five Dove awards and hit number 1 on the Christian Adult Contemporary charts with the single "More". Despite experiencing worrying vocal issues a few years later, West thankfully recovered and has continued to delight fans ever since, going platinum with the 2008 song "The Motions" and staying at number 1 for 17-weeks in 2013 with "Hello, My Name Is".
