A Time-Honoured Christmas Tradition

As the weather gets a little colder and winter takes hold, Christmas-time festivities put a swing in the collective step with the promise of food, revelry and family time. Celebrate this holiday season with the Children's Ballet of San Antonio's annual Nutcracker Ballet, a time-honored festive tradition that casts budding young local dancers from the ages three to nineteen, as well as established professional dancers and special needs performers.

Directed by the company's award-winning Artistic Director Vanessa Bessler and set to the soaring sounds of Tchaikovsky, the children come together to perform the magical story of pint-sized heroine Clara, who embarks on a whirlwind journey when she's given a Nutcracker doll on Christmas eve. When the doll and a host of other toys come to life, an action-packed battle between them ensues, so Clara steps in and takes on the fearsome Mouse King. With the battle won, she and her Nutcracker prince journey to a faraway land where the Sugar Plum fairy reigns.
